Abstract
Stanovništvo je aktualna tema o kojoj se svakodnevno raspravlja među stručnjacima. Značenje stanovništva je mnogostrano, te od velike važnosti. Odnos između rasta stanovništva i ekonomskog razvoja je kompleksan, dokazi su dvojbeni, pogotovo kod pitanja što je uzrok, a što posljedica. Da li ekonomski razvoj uvjetuje rast stanovništva ili je rast stanovništva neophodan uvjet da bi se došlo do ekonomskog razvoja? Da li je rast stanovništva zapreka ili stimulans ekonomskom razvoju? Koje su posljedice, a koje su koristi rasta stanovništva? Sva ova pitanja samo su dio pitanja koja se nameću povezivanjem stanovništva i ekonomskog razvoja.
Abstract (english)
Population is a current topic that is daily debated among experts. Meaning of population is versatile and of great importance. The relationship between population growth and economic development is complex, the evidence is ambiguous, particularly in matters which is the cause and what is effect. Does economic development cause population growth or is population growth a necessary condition in order to reach economic development? Is population growth a barrier or a stimulus to economic development? What are the consequences, and what are the benefits of population growth? All these issues are just some of the questions posed by linking population and economic development.
