Abstract
U ovom radu prikazuje se utjecaj suvremenih medija na političku komunikaciju. Istražuje se koliko korištenje društvenih mreža pridonosi izbornoj kampanji te koriste li političari društvene mreže u punom potencijalu. Objašnjava se način na koji društvene mreže funkcioniraju, kako mogu poslužiti kao kanal dvosmjerne komunikacije između političara i građana/birača te kako građani/birači mogu iskoristiti društvene mreže kao alat kojim mogu utjecati na trenutnu političku situaciju. Pojašnjavaju se novi trendovi u suvremenom političkom oglašavanju i komunikaciji, ukazuje na važnost etičke dimenzije kampanje i na manipuliranje glasačima tijekom izbornih kampanja. Manipuliranje je uzelo velikog maha i to može rezultirati nepovjerenjem građana/birača u suvremene medije. Polazi se od hipoteza da je digitalizacija utjecala na izborne kampanje, da su građani primijetili negativnu diskreditaciju političkih suparnika na lokalnim izborima 2017. godine kao jedan vid negativne kampanje koja izaziva nepovjerenje u demokratski sustav i da to dovodi do stava da političari trebaju snositi sankcije zbog moralne (ne)odgovornosti. Empirijsko istraživanje, provedeno pomoću online ankete na uzorku od 177 ispitanika u vremenu od 25. srpnja do 1. kolovoza 2017. godine, rezultiralo je prihvaćanjem postavljenih hipoteza. Rad završava zaključcima. Ukoliko bi iskusni političari oko sebe okupili tim mladih stručnjaka koji poznaju društvene mreže i koriste ih s lakoćom, funkcionalna dimenzija političke komunikacije na društvenim mrežama bila bi ostvarena u potpunosti. Podizanje svijesti građana/birača o manipulacijama, bilo ideološkim ili onim političkim, dovelo bi do manjeg broja plasiranja istih putem suvremenih medija. Sankcioniranje političara i političkih stranaka zbog nemoralnog i neetičkog ponašanja, kakvog smo sve češće svjedoci, spriječilo bi ili barem umanjilo olako davanje predizbornih obećanja koja se nemaju namjeru ispuniti te ublažilo retoriku kojom se pojedini političari koriste tijekom mandata, a naročito u predizborno vrijeme.
Abstract (english)
The thesis outlines the influence of modern media to the political communication. It explores whether social media influence political campaigns and if politicians use social networks to their full capacity. The way of functioning of social media was explained, how they can be used as a two-way communication between politicians and citizens/voters and how, by using social media, citizens/voters can influence current political situation. New trends in modern political advertising and communication were described, emphasizing ethical dimension of the campaigns as well as possible manipulation of the voters. Such manipulation which is currently widespread can result in voters’ mistrust in modern media. The base hypothesis was that digitalization influenced electoral campaigns by discrediting political opponents during the 2017 local elections in Craotia. This was perceived as sort of negative campaign and it resulted in disbelief in political system, invoking politicians’ moral responsibility and the need to penalize them. Empiric research was conducted through an online questionnaire of 177 examinees between July 25 and August 1, 2017 and it confirmed this hypothesis and gave the following conculsions. In case experienced politicians form a team of young professionals who are into social media and know how to deal with them, functional dimension of political communication through social media would be materialized in full. Raising awareness of both ideological and political modern media manipulations would minimize their occurrence. By penalizing politicians and political parties for frequent immoral and non-ethical behavior, for giving a number of false promises that are never meant to be fulfilled would in this way be decreased. In addition, it would also alleviate rhetoric of some politicians during their terms and especially during pre-election period.
