This paper explores the possible development of creative tourism in a tourist destination, exploring how to organize a destination related event, how to communicate with tourists, and create an experience that meets their needs. It will be shown how to successfully create an image of culture, customs, food and gastronomy. This will be based on the description of the case study of a rural holiday home located in continental Croatia. Creative tourism, as one of the forms of cultural tourism, means meeting the needs of tourists in the development of creative potential in acquiring new knowledge and experiences related to a part of the holiday destination. A possible model for the development of creative tourism destinations is proposed, emphasizing the positive but also the negative aspects of the development of the same. The aim of this paper is to analyze the advantages of Croatia as a tourist destination, to analyze the communication competences for the purpose of tourism promotion and to explore the advantages of creative tourism. The subject of research is the development and perspective of creative tourism in the Republic of Croatia. The problem is that creative tourism in Croatia is insufficiently represented. With the development of creative tourism, with minimal investment, it is possible to create the competitive advantages of a destination based on authenticity, in line with trends in the tourist market.
