Events have become an increasingly important part of people’s private, but also business lives. They are an indispensable part of the marketing strategy of modern companies and are used as a promotional tool for the presentation of company’s products and services. Public events are those events which are organized for a wider audience and have a socially useful goal. Considering their type, events can be divided into private and business events. Business events are further divided into mega events, regional events, significant and less significant events. Principles of public events organization are shown through the setting of events, their management, as well as monitoring, control and evaluation of events. In planning of any event, it is necessary to first determine the purpose and theme of the event, choose the right place and time, pick the right team and external collaborators who will help in its organization, and provide all the necessary resources on the day of the event – from the decorations and flower arrangements to the music and food. The organization of events is called event management. The organization of events is managed by the event manager who controls all activities related to their organization. This paper shows an example of the organization of the annual international ENIC and NARIC conference. The conference is held every year in one of the countries which has an ENIC and NARIC office, and in 2013 it was hosted by the Republic of Croatia and the city of Split.
