Along with the development of democratic society people’s awareness changes and they wish to know more about what is going on in their environment, particularly in those aspects affecting their life and overall development of the society. The public is particularly sensitive towards the public sector, particularly regarding activities by various agencies that are usually perceived negatively and subject to prejudices regarding their efficiency. Those are exact reasons why more particular attention is given to public relations with the aim of establishing better communication and advancing the communication tools used to improve the quality of the institution’s work. The example of the Agency for Science and Higher Education in their communication with the public shows that public institutions can successfully cope with the challenges that they face in public relations. Communication goals set by the Agency are accomplished through various communication channels, depending on the type of public that it communicates with. Particular attention is dedicates to internal communication as well, which also affects the quality of external communication. Presence is various media, active participation in social networks, regular publishing of new information, reactions and statements in printed media, as well as transparent and regular informing create the Agency’s public image and public satisfaction with the institution’s activities. Various researches on public satisfaction whose results contribute to the improvement of communication tools regularly take place, with the purpose of permanent improvement of communication with the public. Results of the research conducted by the Agency in 2016 show that public relations in the Agency have been recognized as a quality working model of a public institution and therefore they affect the creation of a positive public feedback on institutional activities.
