A consumer is any natural person who enters into a legal transaction or operates on the market outside his trade, business, craft or professional activity. There are a number of problems that consumers face when their rights are violated. Consumer rights are being protected more and more intensively, and consumer rights are regulated by legal provisions. The Consumer Protection Act regulates the protection of basic consumer rights when purchasing products and services. Consumer protection is provided through the activities of the State Inspectorate and other inspections and through lawsuits filed with the court by any consumer for a consumer contract to which he is a party. An important part of the consumer protection system is consumer protection associations. The aim of the research in this Final Thesis is to investigate whether students are familiar with the Consumer Protection Act, whether consumers are familiar with the consumer rights that belong to them, how much consumers are aware of who to complain to if their consumer rights are violated, how much consumers are willing to take action to be able to connect with other consumers, how informed consumers are and are aware of consumer protection. Accordingly, were they able to use that knowledge, for example through a complaint. Have they contacted the competent consumer protection authority in order to be better informed and to exercise their rights. The target group of the research were adults of both sexes. The research was conducted during October 2020 through an online survey of students at the Poslovnom veleučilištu Zagreb. The method of primary data collection was used for the research, ie the data were collected exclusively for the purpose of preparing this Final Paper. The results of the research show a very good knowledge of the Consumer Protection Act, the respondents apply the consumer rights that belong to them and were able to use this knowledge.
