Business planning consists of a series of action that achieve the goals, mission and vision of the business. Quality planning enables management to make effective decisions, and they are the result of research of work environment, competition and other strengths and weaknesses. Planning is crucial for the timely acquisition of resources, but also for the economy and efficiency of the entire business of the food industry. If the food industry wants to be a competitor in the modern market, it must be within standard (HACCAP) that clearly define the industrial processes from the process of procurement of raw materials to the placement of products on the market. In this paper, determine the characteristics of business planning, present the stages of business planning in the food industry and the example of Paška sirana d.d. will show hypothetical example of possibilities in production planning. The following methods used in the preparation of the paper is: methods of analysis, synthesis, compilation and comparison. The structure of the paper is divided into three parts. The first part of the paper is an introduction and it describes: the subject of the paper, the structure of the paper, the goal of the paper, methods and sources of work. The second part of the paper defines the characteristics of business planning. The third part of the paper is a presentation of business planning in the food industry on the example of a hypothetical plan of a company for the production of dairy products modeled on Paška sirana d.d.
